Missfits + SCAMP wrong image
Hello,

I'm new to scamp and missfits; I have run successful(?) scamp to get an calibration .head file, but when I have tried to use missfits to update the image header, I got an updated header, however with a bad image (shifted).
If anyone is willing to take a look for me in :

http://www.iaa.es/~jmiguel/image.fits ---> original image
http://www.iaa.es/~jmiguel/image.head --> scamp output
http://www.iaa.es/~jmiguel/image_new.fits --> image after run missfits (wrong image shifted !!)

Any suggestions ?

Thanks for your help,
Jose M.

RE: Missfits + SCAMP wrong image
There's nothing wrong with your files, there's just not many programs out there, that are able to deal correctly with those PV?_? headers in header files generated by scamp; unfortunaltely not even sextractor. Sad

I'd recommend to resample your image using swarp and the header file, it worked perfectly here and generated a well corrected image (at least in verifying by eye-level). To do so, simply put image.fits and image.head into the same directory and then run 'swarp image.fits'. That's it.

HTH, best regards Jan

RE: Missfits + SCAMP wrong image
Hello jmiguel,
I think the problem will be solved in the next MissFITS release.
We saw sometimes similar shifts due to bad managing of keywords in the image header.
Could you be patient for some three or four days? Rolleyes

Thanks and best regards,
Chiara

RE: Missfits + SCAMP wrong image
Jan, thank very much, it worked ! but now, I don't know very well what the swarp resampling is doing, is it only computing a new WCS keywords values or also moving some pixels into the image ?

Chiara, of course, I can be patient wait for that time. Thanks a lot ! :-)
