Stiff on Mac ? some install problem.
Bonjour Emmanuel et al.,

Sorry to annoy you about an install problem.

I'm trying to compile stiff on my MacBook (intel core duo, MacOS 10.4.10,
Darwin Kernel Version 8.10.1), and the make fails at the last line:

cc -O3 -funroll-loops -fomit-frame-pointer -Wall -static -o stiff field.o image.o main.o makeit.o prefs.o tiff.o ../src/fits/libfits.a -lm/usr/bin/ld: can't locate file for: -lcrt0.o
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I tried the install on a proper linux system (another computer), and
everything went well.

The error message is strange to me: a search on crt0 gives no result,
both on the Mac and linux systems.

=> I'm thus wondering if you're aware of succesfull installs on Macs,
or if it's just my system that is not properly configured.

Thanks

Herve

RE: Stiff on Mac ? some install problem.
This is probably because you don't have the static version of the C library installed on your Mac (for some reason it is not there by default). Try to execute the command without the "-static" . Because of this I dropped the "static" thing by default on more recent packages, but I have not done it for STIFF yet (note: statically linked executables are generally faster).

RE: Stiff on Mac ? some install problem.
If you don't want to bother you can grab the latest build here. It links dynamically by default.

Merci Emmanuel !
This works indeed beautifully. Thanks for the quick & efficient "special" build.
